Every year on her wedding anniversary my best friend, Monica slips back on her wedding dress and surprises her husband. He knows its coming, but never quite certain of exactly when. I think last year he came back in from mowing the lawn to see her cooking dinner in it. I literally pee my pants laughing every year just waiting to hear how she pulled it off.
Well, It gave me an idea for Nate's gift this year. I thought it would be fun to slip into my wedding dress for some pictures of me and the babes.
My sweet sister (tonyasuephotography) did my makeup and took them for me . He was so surprised and loved it! Both of the kiddos were not very cooperative during the photo sesh. But, nothing could get in the way of my happiness. After seven years and two kids I got that bad boy zipped.
Happy seven year anniversary, Nate! So glad I get to call you mine. <3
Lately, one of our favorite family outings has been cheesecake in the park. It's pretty simple. We hit up The Cheesecake Factory, spend 20 minutes arguing over which kind of cheesecake to get, head over to the Nelson Atkins Museum and dig in! That is our absolute favorite place to picnic. The front is so beautiful and huge! Lincoln can run around forever, while we sit back and relax. Also, a huge bonus is the kids can use the restroom inside the museum. I'm not a fan of park restrooms.
I'm very good at sharing, except my dessert. It drives me crazy when someone does not order a dessert, claiming they will just have one small bite of yours. I'm mean, please. I've never met a human who can only have one bite of dessert. Once you get that first bite, it's over. They end up eating at least half of it! Nate has learned, after a very intense visit to Murray's, if he does not order any of his own he will not get any of mine. I'm very serious about my dessert! But, I do have an exception with cheesecake. I know it has like 3000 calories or something.. so I'm glad to split it with the family. :)
We went ahead and let Hazel have a little go at it.
This past weekend we took the kids strawberry picking. Nate and I have never been before and it was sooo much fun! I'm 100 % sure we had way more fun than the kiddos. Actually, once Hazel discovered she could eat the strawberries she was in heaven. She carried them around for quite awhile before she took a bite out of it and it rocked her world. Lincoln lasted about 10 minutes before the whining kicked in. "I'm thirsty, I'm muddy, I'm tired." It really brought back some childhood memories. My parents drug us to every single historical place within a 100 mile radius. During of of our many tours my sister screamed, "My legs are on fire!!!" and then hit the ground like a ton of bricks. I'm sure our parents wanted to just leave us there! So, I guess I kind of deserved a whiny three year old.
I have never tasted strawberries right off the vine and it makes me NEVER want to buy from the grocery store again. So far we have made strawberry shortcake and strawberry lemonade. Next up is a strawberry yogurt cake. Can't wait!
Lincoln getting his pick on!
Hazel baby, before she realized she was holding onto gold.
